Aeration is a vital part in keeping your lawn healthy. Why? With everytime you mow or walk on your lawn you compact the soil which doesn't allow the root system to grow longer. This in turn develops a thicker thatch layer where insects take refuge, and doesn't allow water, oxygen, and nutrients to fully get to the root system.
As you can see from the picture above when you aerate the lawn it opens up the compacted soil to increase air, water, and nutrients to the root system which develops new grass plants for a thicker, denser lawn. A thicker lawn wards off pests, weeds, crabgrass, and lessens the amount of water you need to apply. (grass needs at least 1" of water per week to stay healthy)
We recommend you aerate:
1. Every year if you or if you have your lawn mowed with a ride on or commercial mower.
2. Every other year if you or if you have your lawn mowed with a push mower.
